INTEGRATED ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION (AAI)
What is the Integrated Environmental Authorization (AAI)?
The Integrated Environmental Authorization (AAI) is an administrative intervention figure that establishes environmental requirements, such as emission limits or the generation of waste, regulating the correct operation of numerous types of installations (in particular those included in Annex I of Law 16/2002), including agri-food industries and livestock farms, among others.
What does the Integrated Environmental Authorisation (AAI) allow?
This certification allows, on the one hand, to speed up the procedures to obtain an authorization and, on the other hand, marks in a single permit all the environmental conditions that must be met by the facilities in accordance with the basic state legislation and the corresponding regional ones. This provides a «one-stop shop» to ensure that legislation on waste, water, emissions, etc. is respected. Thanks to this, the paperwork is considerably lighter, since the AAI(Integrated Environmental Authorisation) is granted prior to other authorisations or licences that are required for this type of activity.
Is it necessary to review the Integrated Environmental Authorization (AAI)?
This is an authorisation that must be reviewed and, if necessary, updated within four years of the adoption of the conclusions on the available technical improvements (BAT’s) relating to the main activity of an installation, and which is granted by the Autonomous Communities.
